Staff excellent and always willing to help out. Breakfast enjoyable.
Still a bit tired in places and the tv reception is terrible. I keep going back though so it can't be that bad!
Service was good, parking was easy, location on the high st was convenient.
Asked for rooms close together when booking on line, this wasnt done, offered discount and a bottle of wine as compensation, this was ok. Our room was at the front and was extremely noisy from the road traffic and people, the secondary glazing was useless at blocking the noise. The toilet did not have a lock or catch, became adept at using our feet to keep it shut. Lastly, not enough staff in the morning when we checked out, had to wait for a long time before someone came.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The en-suite bathroom had mould in the shower and a hole in the wall filled with toilet paper.
Pleasant & friendly staff, clean accommodation
Friendly staff. Good food. Good location.
1. Parking was an issue as no spaces were available on arrival however, I was able to get a space later that evening, still an inconvenience. 2. There appeared to be a blip with my booking as I was upgraded to a double room which I can't complain about however, it was still a glitch. 3. A blood stain was found on the duvet when getting into bed which is not pleasant to see. 4. Bad TV reception, interference intermittent.
The hotel is very ramble so access to rooms can be quite difficult - up very steep stairs, down corridors, through doors, stairs down then up...
The room was clean and had reasonable faciltilities. The breakfast was first rate. All in all it represented good value.
The church bell chiming and the noise from the busy road
Staff were very friendly and helpful
I found the room a bit small (compared to my expectation). My neighbour's snooring was apparent from the adjoining room when I turned the TV off - not sure if the wall was thin (it felt solid) or not well insulated, or maybe I just had a very noisy snoorer next door!
Bed very comfy Staff all very polite and hard working. Liked the fact that disco finished on party nights at stated time. Central location delivered what I was expecting Thank you to the room maid who provided a blanket within 5 minutes when I mentioned I had been cold in bed on the Friday night.
Asked for papers on Sat & Sunday didn't happen. However the waitress on breakfast on Saturday did run across to shop to get which was much appreciated. Please note room 22 is cold if bathroom door not shut ,bathroom does not have any form of heating .I did expect the shared cheese board to come with side plates and knives without having to ask.
The room was very comfortable. We had a delicious evening meal at a very reasonable cost. Breakfast was excellent.
As we were on the top floor the staircases were a bit of a challenge. Otherwise we were very pleased with our stay.
Thank goodness we only booked for one night!! I booked on the internet as you know and we never go lower than 4*, how were they ever rated 4* I wouldn't give them 2*We have never had such a terrible NOISY stay when we have booked with you before. I uinderstand there was a wedding and disco - but I think we should have been advised when we booked - it was too late to elsewhere as they already had our card details. The room was terrible, so small and dingy, please let me know if at all possible how they got 4*. I have never wrote a bad review before - perrhaps we were just very unlucky with the cromwell!! regards eileen and chris slamaker
No heater in bathroom no hand rail on wall over bath towel rail was broken therefore no where to hang the towels. Hotel disrupted due to wedding.we did not think the room was a suoerior room.absense of a liftwas a nother downside
rooms were clean and tidy, meals were very nice..
you could hear noise from other rooms couldn't work the shower to well, so didn't use it..
We enjoyed the gentleman and young ladythat served us at dinner the first evening that we were there. Without their kind attention we probably would have been even less happy with the whole package. Breakfast was lovely and so was the gentlemen that served us on the Saturday morning and the food was lovely and we felt relaxed at this time.
The fact that I was stood at the reception desk for 10/15 minutes and then having to go and find somebody to check us in. The car park is not signposted aswell and is also signed as a pay and display and it is not until you get inside the hotel that you discover which car park that you are able to use and that you do not have to pay. Maybe a signpost stating that residents of the Cromwell are not expected to pay might be useful. When I did manage to find a gentleman to check me in, he was putting bottles into the fridge in the bar... Obviously necessary when there were only two other people in the bar, the restaurant, however was full with only two staff on. We had booked a 'superior' room, well I wouldn't class it as superior at all. There was a bath, however there was only a shower attached to the bath, even in a travel lodge these days you have a shower head attached to the wall or above the bath, to save you having to run a bath every morning and evening. The kettle was hidden by the side if the tv and there was english breakfast tea, as oppsed to a range of tea for those of us who cannot have any caffiene this was not inclusive in it's approach. No toiletries, oh sorry, one small bottle of bubble bath, so much for a superior room. One pillow each, the ones in the wardrobe had no covers. Poor lighting and a remote control for the tv that was broken as the back was always falling off. The noise level was terrible, we could hear the people next door talking and the traffice outside was terrible, on the Saturday morning, there was a skip lorry that had just 'dropped' its skip at about 7.00 A.M. We were unable to close the windows fully and we needed to climb onto a side board to be able to close the set of curtains at the end of the room. The finalstraw cam when we arrived back to the Cromwell and the bar doors were closed but the noise was deafenning and we were on the top floor. This continued until after 11.30/ 12..
Poor communication between staff causing wrong table being reserved. Polite service (Rachel handled things well), good food, however very poor facilities at breakfast.
